Festus High School Counselor Finalist for National Counselor of the Year
Festus High School Counselor Jennifer Kline is one of four finalists for the 2020 National School Counselor of the Year. Kline is the current Missouri School Counselor of the Year. The American School Counselor Association which presents the School Counselor of the Year Award says "the award honors exemplary school counseling professionals who devote their careers to serving as advocates for the nation's students, helping them achieve success in school and in life.
A panel chose the finalists based on several criteria, including school counseling innovations, exemplary comprehensive school counseling programs, leadership and advocacy skills and contributions to student outcomes. The other three finalists represent schools in El Paso, TX; Lawrenceville, GA; and Oregon, OH.
The executive director of the American School Counselor Association says, "These School Counselor of the Year finalists have demonstrated their commitment to the values and mission of the school counseling profession. The annual School Counselor of the Year award highlights their dedication, contribution, and excellence."
The American School Counselor Association will name the national School Counselor of the Year in late fall.
