In an effort to build greater partnerships with our District parents, family members, community members, and staff, the Festus R-6 School District is launching a citizen education program to give participants an in-depth look at the inner workings of the Festus R-6 School District. This program will be held on the 2nd Tuesday of every month (1st Tuesday in November) from September 2026 through April 2027. Participants will develop a deeper understanding of our many programs, services, opportunities, and challenges within public education. The sessions will be informative and interactive and designed to give you a better understanding about the decisions that are made as a District.
The academy has limited availability. Seats will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis. Once those spots are filled, you will be placed on a waiting list. Because it is a school-year-long program, we ask they you be able to attend all (or nearly all) of the sessions. The sessions will be held from 6pm - 7:30pm on the following dates (dinner will be provided):
(Topics subject to change)
- September 8th – Welcome, District Overview, Budget & School Finance
- October 13th – Facilities, Maintenance & Technology
- November 3rd – Student Services and Curriculum & Instruction
- December 8th– Student Panel
- January 12th – Food Service & Transportation
- February 9th – Student Opportunities (Academic, Fine Arts, Activities & Athletics)
- March 9th – Early Childhood & Parents as Teachers
- April 13th – Legislative Update, Graduation
