G. William Weier
2026 Festus R-VI Hall of Fame Recipient - G. William Weier
For G. William (Bill) Weier a career was never meant to be confined to a single track. Reflecting on his journey upon his induction into the Festus R-VI Hall of Fame, Weier’s advice was simple: "Opportunities in the U.S. are endless. Follow your star—you don’t have to stick to one direction." His life is a perfect example of that, spanning groundbreaking legal work, public service, healthcare development, international business, and community philanthropy.
Weier’s roots run deep in Jefferson County and the Festus community. His family moved to Festus when he was in the third grade. His dad was a member of the Board of Education. Later, he excelled at Festus High School. As a student, he earned Honor Roll recognition, competed on the Debate team, and served as VP of his Senior Class. After graduating in 1961, he went on to complete an accelerated educational track, earning his Bachelor of Arts from Washington University in 1965 (completing three years of undergraduate study) before earning his Juris Doctor from the University of Missouri School of Law in 1967.
He returned to Festus to practice law alongside his father at Richeson, Weier, & Roberts. In 1968 he married his wife Patricia, a University of Missouri School of Journalism graduate from Richmond, Virginia. In the same year, at the young age of 24, Weier ran for and won the election for Jefferson County Prosecuting Attorney. Over his two-year term as county prosecutor, he tried over 30 felony cases in just 24 months.
Following his tenure as prosecutor Weier transitioned into civil law, becoming a partner at his father’s law firm. That led to an offer from the prestigious Bryan Cave Law Firm in 1975, where he became a partner in 1978 focusing heavily on complex civil litigation. He then founded his own law firm in Crystal City in 1979, expanding it throughout the 1980s by moving to west St Louis County and adding 15 attorneys.
Over the years Weier's career continually evolved into new domains. He worked closely with the Missouri
Attorney General’s office to establish the Joachim Plattin Ambulance District. He also worked with the
Governor's office and the Missouri Highway Department to transfer property for the Mastodon State Park. In the early 1970s he helped create COMTREA after identifying a need for a dedicated agency to assist vulnerable individuals. By the early 1980s he had transitioned to healthcare law, consulting with St. John's Mercy and other health care providers. Weier also assisted in the development of the Wentzville hospital. In 1988 he and a partner began developing nursing homes eventually opening two in west St Louis County and one in St. Charles County. In a pivot that took him around the globe, Weier and his business partner worked with French contemporary furniture company Ligne Roset in the mid 90s to develop stores across the United States. After meeting with partners in France, they established stores in Chicago, Miami, and Seattle. He comanaged the international venture for five years before exiting.
Beyond his professional ventures, Weier has remained deeply dedicated to giving back through the Weier Family Foundation. Since 2009 he has awarded one four-year scholarship each year to a deserving Festus graduate.
When asked about his induction into the Festus R-VI Hall of Fame, Weier shared his gratitude. "I was surprised and honored,” he said. “It's something I didn't expect, and I'm proud to be selected." For his many career accomplishments and lasting impact on the communities where he lived and worked, G. William Weier is the 33rd inductee into the Festus R-VI Hall of Fame.
