Monitoring The Weather
Dear Festus R-VI Parents,
As many of you are likely aware, the National Weather Service has placed our area in an Enhanced (Significant) Risk for severe weather beginning tomorrow afternoon/evening. Student and staff safety is our top priority. I, along with District leadership, am monitoring the forecasts and evolving timeline.
What We Are Watching
The current forecast timeline has the potential for severe weather arriving in our area after 6pm. This timeline has been evolving over the past several hours, and may change again overnight and into tomorrow morning. Should things change, I am prepared to adjust our schedule as needed to keep everyone safe. This could include an early dismissal and/or cancelling after-school activities.
Possible Risks
- Strong tornadoes
- Damaging winds stronger than 70 miles an hour
- Hail
- Heavy Rain
- Stay informed - Continue to monitor the weather situation and ParentSquare. Should the need arise to adjust our schedules, we will communicate those changes through ParentSquare first, then on social media.
- Be Prepared - If severe weather arrives, know where you go in your home to be safe.
Sincerely,
Dr. Nicki Ruess
Superintendent
Festus R-VI School District
