FHS Hosts One-Day ACT Prep Seminar

Story image 1_0

FHS will once again be hosting a one-day ACT Prep Seminar during the Fall Semester. It will take place on Tuesday, October 17. It is being held to better prepare our students for the October 28 ACT. Past seminar participants have increased their ACT scores by participating in the one-day program.

In order to participate in the seminar, students must register for the October 28 ACT. Students register for the ACT online at www.actstudent.org. The registration deadline for the October 28 ACT is September 22. Friendly reminder: Any student eligible for the free/reduced school lunch program may take the ACT twice for free. Eligible students should see Mr. Shemwell for a fee waiver. All students are advised to check personal calendars for October 28 before registering. If a student has a personal conflict and cannot test on October 28, the student may still sign up for the seminar if the student will be taking the ACT on December 9.

For seniors, there are many important deadlines during the first semester related to college applications and scholarship applications. Therefore the October ACT test date is the last opportunity to get a higher ACT score before some deadlines. Thus, the October ACT test date is very important for those students striving for a higher ACT score.

To sign up for our ACT Prep Seminar a student should show his/her ACT Admission Ticket to Ms. Raebel in the Guidance Office as soon as possible. We have room for 60 students to participate in the seminar, so registration is on a first come, first served basis.

Seminar participants are to arrive to school early on the day of the seminar. The bus to the testing location will leave FHS at 7:10 a.m. by Mr. Allen's office. Students will be provided lunch.

This is a great opportunity for students planning to take the ACT this fall. We are hopeful many students will take advantage of this opportunity and participate. If you have questions please contact your school counselor.
